THE PINK FLOYD - 'PIPER AT THE GATES OF DAWN'
1967 UK 1st PRESS **MONO** COLUMBIA LP
**ONE OF THE 1st COPIES EVER PRESSED*
This copy is without doubt one of the first 300 ever pressed as it carries the 1/G, 1/G first stamper/'mother' codes.
The cover is consistant with an initial pressing as it omits the 'File Under..' text from the upper flipback on the rear of the cover.
This extremely early & rare 1967 MONO 1st pressing is on the UK black & blue Columbia label: SCX 6157
Both labels carry the 'Sold in UK..' text & 'Gramophone Co. Ltd...' rims.
The 'KT' tax/price code is visible in the centre of the side 1 label.
Housed in its front laminated, tri-flipback 'E.J. Day' mono cover which omits the 'File Under..' text on the upper flipback.
Complete with its original black & white EMI advertising inner-sleeve.
Matrix numbers: XAX 3419-2 & XAX 3420-1

Visual: VERY GOOD PLUS
This very rare copy has been well looked after and displays just minor signs of careful handling and play.
Both sides are clean, bright and glossy, undulled by careless handling, improper storage or 'groove-whitening' from overplay.
Close inspection under a halogen desk lamp reveals some light paper hairlines and an occaisional hairline scratch but no heavy or deep marks.
Thick, quality vinyl which lies 100% flat on both sides with no dishing or warping.
Audio: VERY GOOD
Frequently but not over-played there is overall no major lessening to the sound quality.
Listening on headphones at volume, some intermittant peak wear & minor background is audible but no major audible faults.
There are no heavy clicks or any jumps or repeats.
Cover: EXCELLENT MINUS
A nice example of this rare early cover with just light handling & storagewear and no major faults.
The vibrant front panel retains an unscratched, high-gloss front laminate which bears just a few light wrinkles and 3 'thumbnail' creases.
There is a rub to the lower right corner but all other are unbumped with minor shelfwear only.
The opening edges on both sides are sharp, clean and unworn with no tears or feathering.
The matt rear panel displays some small areas of faint discolouration but is otherwise clean with no writing or missing paper.
Some light creasing to the lower left flipback corner only but no damage or missing paper. The others are in perfect shape.
There is some writing on the inner-sleeve but the seams and the spine are in perfect condition.
Strict visual grading in daylight and directly under a halogen desk lamp & audibly at volume on high-end audio equipment
