Description
Is it a truly wonderful Pink Floyd collectible... or a fabulously mint/mint copy of Floyd's first post 'Wall' album?
OMG, it's both!!!
You are thinking about bidding on the vinyl lp 'The Final Cut' by Pink Floyd on Columbia Records (AS 1636),
tagged on the cover,"special banded version for radio." The back of the album jacket has "DEMONSTRATION - NOT FOR SALE" printed on it in white type,
not stamped on it as most promo copies do. Neither the jacket not the vinyl is marked "promo,"and neither bears any cut corners, holes or any other physical manifestations of being a promo album. BUT IT ALSO INCLUDES A SINGLE SHEET PROMO PIECE THAT DESCRIBES THE ALBUM TO RADIO PERSONNEL THAT YOU CANNOT FIND ANYWHERE ELSE. Curious, yes?
Both record and jacket are mint-- this lp has never been played by me, and appears never to have been played at all. Please ignore the reflection of an overhead light fixture in the vinyl.)
Regarding the content, opinions are mixed. When I first heard 'The Final Cut' back in the day, I was terribly disappointed;
it seemed like all the slow parts of 'The Wall' strung together. But with the passage of time, I came to appreciate its subtle offerings; as a direct link into Roger's heart, it's more like a Broadway show of the mind than a conventional rock 'n roll album. The recording quality is excellent, and with the holophonics system used in recording, it is especially a treat through a pair of quality headphones.
So that's the lowdown. However you choose to look at it, it's mint, it's unique, it's eminently collectible and a very good listen, too.
US shipping is $6, NOT THE $4 listed; international shipping is at actual cost, with method and cost to be approved by buyer.
Ask questions if you have them. Thanks for looking.
