Description

Please, allow me to introduce myself quoting another old rock cliché: maybe I am too young on ebay but too old into this triptych of buy, sell and trade records as I’ve not only been a dedicated follower of collecting but a co-owner of second hand record shops, an A&R executive at record companies, a chief editor in music magazines, a radio dj etc for the last 30 years in Greece! So, a hell of a lot of rare and collectable items such as out-of-print original records, first pressings, special editions, promo samples, white labels, test pressings, magazines, posters, catalogues, memorabilia and other fetish objects of desire in 5, 7, 10 and 12 inches not only from Greece but from all over the world are going to be exhibited through these pages … Turn on and stay tuned!

So, up for auction is a rare copy of the Second issue SQ quadraphonic release of Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side Of The Moon that went into production in Germany by EMI Elektrola in 1978 using the British quad tapes with black Harvest labels with a blue prism stating QUADRO, Cat No 1C 064-05 249 Q D and Matrix Nos 05 249-Q-A-1 [A side] and 05 249-Q-B-1 [B side, both stamped]. The record is housed in a glossy gatefold sleeve with a red border across the top on the front stating “Voll kompatibel fur Stereo [Fully Compatible to Stereo, in English language] - QUADROPHONIE - This recording has been produced in accordance with SQ standards “ plus the QUADRAPHONIC  SYSTEM [SQ] logo with two [2] 76,5 x 51 cm full color posters  -  the blue “Pyramid” poster and the six-pane “Group” shot poster in landscape style - with the Cat No 1 C 064-05 249 printed in each one’s bottom right corner plus two [2] post card sized 15 x 10,5 cm graphics inserts - the “Yellow” and the “Brown” ones - both printed on a thin piece of paper whose back is blank white with the Cat No 1 C 064-05 249 printed also in each one’s lower right border.

Unavailable for almost forty years, this must have item for every devoted fan of Pink Floyd or Quadraphonic sound does not get offered up too often. So, do not miss …
