Pink Floyd "The Wall" 1981. Ultra rare Columbia Records promotional issue copy with the CX Noise-Reduction System technology developed by CBS Laboratories. "COLUMBIA NY" machine stamp and the handwritten "CX" symbol in the dead wax. Original white brick wall gatefold cover with the "FOR PROMOTION ONLY Ownership Reserved By CBS. Sale is Unlawful" embossed gold Columbia Records promotional stamp located in the upper right corner of the back cover, unlike the other standard promotional versions which have the stamp in the upper left corner. All of the copies of this CX System promotional pressing are numbered and the number of this copy is 4120, stamped in gold and located right above the promotional stamp. The back cover also has a very rare sticker with the CX logo in the lower right corner. The name CX derived from "Compatible eXpansion," a feature of the technique. CX was originally designed by CBS as a noise-reduction technology for vinyl LP records. CX requires a special decoder connected to a stereo system in order to fully reproduce the CX encoded sound on the LP. However, CX-encoded records can also be played without a decoder, with a resulting amount of dynamic range compression. The cover is Near Mint. I haven't posted a photo of the gatefold interior because it's practically new and has never been fully opened. The vinyl of Side 1,2 and 4 is Excellent with Side 3 somewhere between Very Good Plus and Excellent Minus. A small number of light surface scuffs which were most likely caused by the original paper inner sleeves which are included in the listing and are in Excellent condition. The original tour programme is in Excellent condition having some light creasing at the spine and shelf wear. Please see the other currently listed LPs and memorabilia from my personal Pink Floyd collection.
