Description
Following yet another exploratory trip to the bunker which houses my personal collection of vinyl albums for which I scraped and saved to acquire during the 1960s and 1970s, I have returned clutching a superb STREREO copy of "THE PIPER AT THE GATES OF DAWN" by PINK FLOYD. Released during 1967 on the blue & black Columbia label SCX 6157 bearing the matrixes YAX 3419-1 & YAX 3420-2. This is a very early second pressing as certified by the words " File under Popular" to the flipback at the top right hand corner of the covers rear.
CONDITION: Examined under a strong light there are just visible some very light scuff lines to the surface of the vinyl which have been caused simply by withdrawing the record from its protective inner sleeve prior to playing: The vinyl has retained a wonderful deep gloss; on audio playback the sound quality is simply stunning!! The only marks to both labels are some feint spindle lines; the centre holes display no signs of wear. The printed crimson and white EMI company paper inner sleeve is in extremely good shape and has no tears or added writing. The Ernest J. Day cover with its rear flipbacks, is laminated to the front face only and has survived in a close to new condition due to having been protected within a plastic sleeve for the past forty eight years. The spine is near perfect, the album title is 100% legible.
All in all an outstanding example of a much sought after collectors item. I feel compelled to grade it with a single overall rating of EXCELLENT+ AS IS THE CASE WITH ALL MY EBAY LISTINGS I REFER TO THE RECORD COLLECTORS GRADING SYSTEM AS A YARD STICK.
