For auction is "Presenting ERNIE HENRY," on Riverside RLP 12-222, MONO, DG, White Label, 1956. With Kenny Durham, Kenny Drew, Wilbur Ware and Art Taylor.

SOUND: NM-/NM

It has been machine-cleaned and I listened to both sides completely. I can't overstate how delightful the playback is on this rare record! Overall, the sound is clean, crisp and clear! That said, let me serve as devil's advocate and tell you what's not perfect about this record: 

A2, "Orient" has 2 or 3 teeny-weenie "tics," otherwise brilliant.

A3, "Free Flight," has one medium volume "tick," all else is amazing.

Other than that, if you put your ear up against the speaker, you might catch a faint background noise here or there. But that's not what I would do if I were you: I'd crank it up and sit back and experience this brilliant gem of a record!

VINYL: NM-

The vinyl is in fabulous condition. Overall, it is exceptionally clean and glossy, dare I say "newish-looking?" Two things to point out: First, there is a light scuff across A4, "Checkmate." I was afraid it would affect the playback, but as far as I can tell, it does not. It appears entirely superficial. Second, there is a tiny mark in B2, "I Should Care." I attempted to "feel" it, and I could not. That said, that particular selection is the softest cut on the record, and the playback was brilliant on it! Aside from those two things, the record would be NM all the way. As it is, the vinyl is a SOLID NM- grade!

Matrix numbers are etched: "RLP-12-222-A"//"RLP-222-B"

The labels are white "mike-and-reel" with deep-grooves. They are very clean and unmarked. Under bright light, you can see one or two tiny spindle marks.

COVER: NM-

The cover is gorgeous. The edges and spine are solid and straight, with minimal (almost no) wear. The corners are very nice, with minimal, routine wear. The laminated front cover is righteous! It has the slightest bit of a ring-wear, if you look askance in bright light. The back is very clean and bright, with a red "promo" stamp top right. Otherwise, unmarked and in great condition, with only routine, minimal aging or wear.

A rare record in any condition! I don't know how it survived 63 years in this condition! Suffice to say, this is your chance to add it to your collection forever, no upgrade is possible! No reserve, bidding starts at $150.

Every record I auction has been cleaned on a Nitty Gritty vacuum/cleaner. I played every record to determine if there are static, tics, pops, hisses, what have you. I endeavor to thoroughly report any extraneous audio "noise" or problems of any significance. Other than that, I will report on the general condition of each record, both vinyl and jacket, according to Goldmine standards, to the best of my ability. 

Every record is put into a new, clean sleeve insert. In the case of an interesting original sleeve insert, I'll include that in the sale.  

If you're into this stuff, you might want to save me to your seller's list and check back periodically. I'll be putting a lot of vintage jazz records up for auction.
