PRINCE - THE BLACK ALBUM - OFFICIAL 1994 RELEASE.
Very Limited Edition collectible LP.
Recorded in 1986/7. Probably one that wont get re-issued. Officially released in 1994 to keep Warner Brothers happy although Prince didnt want the material released ever.
Overall I would give this an 8/10 VG Rating.
I have 2 copies of this LP and both are very similar condition. One has a glossier finish to the sleeve while this one has a slightly matt finish.
Personally I don't think the quality of this release was up to standard. A few people I know who have a copy of this tell me their LPs are the same.
The sleeve is very thin and creases very easily as did the inner sleeve. Being completely black didnt help as it shows every crease. However this one isnt bad at all. I have taken a few pics to show the condition. As you can see there are a few creases to the sleeve mainly towards the corner.
The vinyl is pretty lightweight compared to todays standards but it does sound very rich and punchy.
The vinyl plays perfectly all the way through with minimal surface noise although there are slight crackles at the start of both sides and between tracks which is to be expected for a used LP over 25 years old. No jumps. There are hairline marks on both sides but nothing that really affects play. Again Ive tried to take pics to show this.
Any questions please ask. I have described this record exactly as I see it and as accurately as I can. I cant exchange it or refund it or give any warranties. I wont sell any record i wouldn't be happy to receive myself. I paid over £150 for this 5 years ago in this exact condition.
