Arica: Audition; Arica Institute AI-1001; 1972; 2-LP gatefold -- private-press masterpiece by the world's best amateur guru band!; mysterious NYC meditation group named after a town in northern Chile created this stone gasser; Tibetan ritual chanting (the most far-out stuff there is), wild jazz, funk, tabla, sitar; rec. mainly at Electric Lady Studios in NYC--very professionally done,; jacket sports a great mandala & the liners tell you about "listening with the soles of your feet"; Absorption, Relaxation, Mentations, Passive in the World, Active in the World, Passive in the Cosmos, Active in the Cosmos, The Funnel (in 6 parts), Absorption, Mantram (6-part, all of side 4) it's one of our best and most favorite discoveries--and you can buy it!
I had to find another description of this lp so I searched the web and found this one above. They were asking for $750.00....wow we do have a lower starting bid and I think mine is in better shape. First we will do the cover. I give it a vg+ it does show some wear. The lps looks real good too. There are just a few light surface marks on this record that for the most part looks unplayed and I did note see any spindle markings around the lp hole.The pressing is not the best but I can still give it a vg+ to mostly a vg++ . I am sure that if you got it new it would not be too much better. We all know that some labels the pressings were not the best. All in the pressing has some light surface noise on some of the quiet parts on the lp but it is still a good listen. See my feedback This is a 2 lp set.
