Was bought new by this seller many years ago, played 2 times (once when bought, 2nd for sale play test),
and now sold from his private collection. You have absolutely known provenance. Has never been
exposed to heat or tobacco smoke and always stored vertically in a specially designed record cabinet
(Rackit) to prevent warpage.
Very sensitive play testing was performed straight off my Ayre P-5xe fully balanced phono preamp
over Sennheiser HD 600 headphones thru a Schiit Audio Valhalla 2 tube headphone amp fitted with
Voskhod Soviet matched tubes. (see last photo)
Track list
A: The Birth Of Kije, Romance, The Wedding Of Kije, Troika, The Burial Of Kije.
B: Song Of The Nightingale.
Grading
Note: record grading by text characters is subjective and does not fully describe quality
levels. Please see photos and my detailed descriptions below.
I wore nitrile gloves continuously during photography, visual inspection and play testing to avoid
transferring any finger oils to the record.
Outer Jacket: NM (Near Mint) - Still in opened shrink wrap, can't find any bends, creases, or rubbing
marks.
Vinyl: NM (Near Mint) - Surface visuals were first inspected under high intensity halogen light. The vinyl
surfaces are visually perfect. I couldn't find any line hairlines, traces, sleeving marks. Play testing followed
visual inspection. I listened to the start and ending of each track and all transition grooves. On Side 2 I
advanced my tonearm about 3/8" at a time and listened for a few minutes after each drop. First. this
is an exceptionally quiet pressing. There is no crackle in the vinyl noise floor and it is as close to "dead
quiet" as any LP I have ever played. On the quietest passages I could hear the master tape hiss but
nothing else. Yes, you will get a single random tiny "tick" once in a while as no vinyl is 100% perfect.
I would describe the audio quality as explosive orchestral peaks, wide & deep ambient space, and
instrumental tonal purity. I could easily see why this recording is so praised by audiophiles and music
lovers. It is exceptional.
Packaging
Record will be placed outside the jacket to prevent seam splitting.
