Description
The so-called "Holy Grail" of PIL collectors, this is the original 1979 limited edition Metal Box. The 3 records are in exellent condition with no scratches. They have been kept safe and dry in standard (square) sleaves and LP envelopes all these years. The 4 orginal round paper separators have been kept in the metal box and are in good condition with no folds or significant creases. The metal box itself shows its age with discoloring and some mild corrosion. I believe this discoloring is the result of residue from human handling, because, some of this discoloring on the inside rim bears an image of my fingerprint. There are about 5 spots on the metal that look like rust, the largest measuring about 9mm X 5mm. Two of these spots are visible in the photo of the back side of the box, 3 to 4 cm below the "METAL 1" label. The box still has the original "Rolling Stone"(the record store that I purchased it from, when it was released, in Chicago) label on it. The 8 and 1/4" X 5 and 7/8" playlist got separated from the set years ago, was damaged in a basement flood, and is in very poor condition(see photo).
