 Extras?: Here's an excellent opportunity for you to purchase 'The Metal Box Collection'. This comprises:

The original Metal Box 3 X 12" LP in its original rare metal tin with 'metal 1' sticker on the rear and including the original tracklisting insert. The tin is in remarkable condition - one of the best i have ever seen. It has tarnished with age (as it was designed to do) but has not succumbed to rust like almost all of its fellow tins, it has no dents or cracks or anything nasty really. The vinyl is in excellent condition throughout and sounds brilliant. If you have never heard this album on 12" 45rpm vinyl then you are in for a treat - this is the way it was meant to be heard. It is cut so deeply that the bass is massive - so be aware that it has been known to bounce lightly weighted tonearms right off the disc!!!! I have also included a copied lyric sheet - this was never included with the original album but was, instead, published in ZigZag magazine to cut out and keep. Mine is a mere printed out copy, just as a little present!

Secondly, is the original 12" of 'Memories' from the album - a different mix and another spectacular release. Both sleeve and vinyl are in VG+ condition.

Thirdly, is the original 12" of 'Death Disco' - again, different mixes to the album version and another brilliant record. Sadly the sleeve has some damage to the bottom and, even sadder, the record has a small crack in it for the first minute. I wouldn't normally sell a record with a crack in it but i thought it was only right to include it here as a freebie.

Fourthly, as another free gift, i am including a cdr of 4 live gigs from 1979/8(Manchester/Atlanta/Boston/NYC) as an indication of what a great live band this incarnation of PIL were. These mp4s can be burnt into audio cds or played on your computer.

I grade the vinyl & sleeves according to the Record Collector grading guide, the industry standard, see below for detailed descriptions of gradings.

"MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.

FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and / or defaced.

POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection filler."

As well as the above grades, Near Mint is often used as well; this is really for a record that appears new but is known to have been played because the label has light spindle marks or because it has come from a previous owner and is assumed to have been played by them. For records which appear to fall between the accepted grades, + and - are also often added to the grading.

In addition to the basic grading, any individual faults should be noted separately such as if an otherwise Excellent cover has a name written on it, or a 7" single is missing its original centre etc.

We visually check records and then test play random songs (i do not have the time to fully play grade them) and also test play any marks to check if they affect the sound quality. I will playgrade fully any records on request from people who have already placed a bid.

All used vinyl is cleaned thoroughly before shipping using Disco Antistat liquid to remove ingrained dirt and static electricity.
