Queen : Hammer To Fall 7" Single 1984 (Withdrawn Sleeve)

This very collectable single needs little introduction.  It is of course features 'live' footage on the front cover which was subsequently withdrawn by EMI as they thought it would mislead the public into thinking it was an actual 'live' recording.  Contrary to many anecdotes online it was not Brian who wanted it to be withdrawn!  On his own website in 2007 he said he actually preferred it.  Woolworths failed to receive the 'recall notice' and continued to sell it for one more week until their stocks ran out.

The sleeve has been counterfeited over the years but needless to say this one is 100% genuine.  The majority of the 'fakes' are pressed on coloured vinyl and the black vinyl ones have cassette incorrectly spelt with one 's' on the back cover.  The flipbacks on the genuine version are square at the top and angled at the bottom.

The Withdrawn Sleeve

The most important aspect here is obviously the cover and I am pleased to say this is easily one of the most STUNNING examples I have ever seen.  It still has its original glossy look and has just one small 'rub' on the left edge and barely any wear on the corners.  The front cover is so clean and the back is equally as impressive with only one tiny 'crease' mark next to the thumb notch by the top edge.  The flipbacks remain 100% attached to the cover.  It really is in lovely condition!

Play grading & Visual condition

I have played both sides in full and I can confirm the audio plays to a superb standard with no interference.  No ticks, clicks, pops or static the clarity and depth is comparable to an un-played record.  The vinyl is visually stunning with only a couple of minor hairlines and as per the first pressings the disc has a solid centre.

QUEEN 4 // A-1 / B-1

The cover is Near Mint-

The audio on both sides is Mint(-)
