Innuendo A2/B1

This genuine first UK pressing has the rarer A2/B1 matrix and not the more commonly seen A2/B2 one.  It has immaculate audio been played once or twice according to the previous owner.

Visual grading

This record has been beautifully preserved over the last 27 years.  I can only detect a couple of very faint hairlines and there are certainly no scratches.  It is visually stunning to say the least and retains an incredible glossy sheen, it looks practically as new.  There is only a couple of faint spindle traces on S2 and nothing on S1.

Play grading  

With barely any lead in static the classic opening track 'Innuendo' plays with superb audio from start to finish.  What is obvious is the incredible depth and warmth of the sound compared to the more recent reissues.  The opening section is absolutely stunning with no interference at all and even the quieter 'Spanish guitar' section plays with fantastic clarity.  So often there is some 'background' but here there is none, wow!  The remainder plays to the same exacting standard and this is without doubt one of the best versions I have ever heard.  'I'm Going Slightly Mad' has a couple of mega light dust ticks on the intro and then plays to a standard that can only be graded as Mint the quality is that good.  'Headlong' displays immense power all the way through and again plays 'as new'.  No distortion, no clicks or pops just pure Mint audio.  The final two tracks play to the same 'high end' standard and quite honestly this side deserves a Mint grading although I will add a minus just because it isn't sealed.  The entire side plays with immaculate definition and separation i.e. there is no 'muddiness' to the sound, the clarity of each instrument is perfect and all rise to the fore in equal measure.  Absolutely stunning!

'All God's People' on S2 is equal to the immaculate quality shown on S1 and the worst you can say is that there is one very light dust tick on the fade out!  Once again the clarity and depth is just impeccable.  What follows is a Mint version of 'These Are The Days Of Our Lives', you will not hear better.  This emotive track is 'as new' and even the fade out plays with perfect precision.  The quirky 'Delilah' again plays with stunning precision and the quiet intro on 'Don't Try So Hard', so often beset with problems, has no intrusive 'background' which is a rarity.  A couple of mega light dust ticks that are barely audible and the rest of the track is incredible impressive also.  'The Hitman' plays loud and true with no distortion and no clicks or pops.  The very quiet 'Bijou' again has remarkably clear audio and there is no interference to be heard.  I am running out of superlatives for the immaculate quality on offer here!  The classic 'The Show Must Go On' ends the album with incredible power and no clicks or pops...again.  A hint of distortion on the top end which is common on the first pressings but it does not intrude on the high quality listen.  The long fade out amazingly has no 'background' whatsoever.  A superb end to a barely played album.

In summary this is a final upgrade archive copy without doubt and of course the A2/B1 matrix makes it even more collectable.  It is becoming increasingly difficult to find an original first pressing in Near Mint / Mint condition so I am pleased to say this one matches that requirement.  I grade fairly and with integrity as my feedback confirms and the audio on offer here in my experience cannot be improved upon.  It is an absolute stunner!

The Cover

Overall this cover is in lovely condition and it has retained its whiteness extremely well.  So often there is some 'foxing' or staining but not on this one, it is just so clean.  The edges and spine are beautifully clean and have no rubbing at all.  In fact the only obvious area of wear is one very small compression/crease is on the opening edge near the bottom corner.  Aside from that this cover is nigh on perfect.  The opening edge itself has no handling wear at all.  A fantastic example of this cover and better than practically all you see today.

Lyric inner

This is as new and Mint without doubt.  Impossible to find better.

The labels

There is no writing on the labels and as stated only a hint of spindle wear on the S2 label.  The run out grooves are also superbly clean.
