This early first pressing plays with stunning immaculate audio and it would be very difficult to find a genuine first press play as 'cleanly' as this.  It has only been lightly played and the gatefold and lyric inner are also in great condition.

Visual grading

Look no further for a superb pristine looking first press!  It has an incredible mirror like glossy sheen and can only have been played a small number of times as there is very little spindle wear and the immaculate quality of the audio confirms that.  It has no hairlines or scratches and all I can detect is one tiny 'speck' on S2 which is very difficult to spot!  This is one stunning vinyl and one of the most impressive I have seen in a long time.  A thing of beauty!

Play grading  

There is no lead in static on S1 so you're immediately thinking this is going to play well and...it does not disappoint!  'We Will Rock You' plays with a power and clarity that is second to none, you could not wish for a better version on a genuine first pressing!  It is Mint and has no interference at all.  A truly sensational start to S1.  The quiet intro on 'We Are The Champions' is immaculate and is 'as new' if I'm honest.  This dynamic quality continues and again this classic qualifies as Mint the playback was just stunning.  I can't believe I'm listening to a first press!  The clarity and definition of the music is 'high end' and it is patently obvious this vinyl has been hardly played.  'Sheer Heart Attack' is another prime example of a vinyl that has been beautifully preserved down the decades.  Pure Mint audio all the way with superb depth and no distortion at all.  'All Dead All Dead' is more of test for this first pressing being such a quiet track and I am pleased to say from the very first note it plays with impeccable sound.  There is not a single click or pop and no static or crackle either.  This is why we listen to vinyl - when you find a first press that has been as well looked after as this the depth and warmth cannot be beaten by any other medium.  This track is just perfect in every way and yet again has no interference of any kind.  Wow!  'Spread Your Wings' is equal to this and plays with stunning definition from start to finish.  So often there is distortion on this track but not here!  I am finding it difficult to adequately describe each track in a unique way as they play to the same breathtaking standard!  Even the long fade out on this track has no 'background'!  'Fight From The Inside' ends the side with very strong audio and no interference.  This final track always has some distortion but there is barely any here, another sign that the vinyl has been hardly played.  An absolutely stunning S1 - I have not heard one as perfect as this in a long time.

The quiet intro on 'Get Down Make Love' is superb with only a couple of barely audible dust ticks, hardly worth a mention really!  It's so rare for the opening few grooves to play as 'cleanly' as this and especially on a vinyl of this age.  From then on it plays with the same supreme clarity and the strength and depth on the louder sections is so impressive.  The instrumental is just mind-blowing and has no 'background' as per the rest of the track!  Another stunning version.  The often underrated 'Sleeping On The Sidewalk' is 'as new' aside from one click in the middle section.  However, it is so 'deep' in the music that you easily miss it.  It is caused by a tiny speck that just refuses to be moved!  The strong bass is so high in the mix and again I am just blown away by the immaculate quality on offer here.  'Who Needs You' again plays with wonderful precision and yes no interference whatsoever, just pure Mint audio all the way through.  The clarity of each note is just sublime and it is no exaggeration to say it plays with a quality that is second to none.  It is sheer audio perfection!  The super quiet intro on 'It's Late' is stunning and has only a small number of dust ticks but they are so faint as to be negligible.  There is one click just after the 'Oh how I could love you' line during the first verse but apart from that this classic again plays 'as new'.  The power and depth is awesome and the mid heavy guitar section is just incredible.  Mint and then some!  It plays with superb precision to the end.  Admittedly this cannot be graded as mint due to the click but it easily deserves a Near Mint grading in my opinion.  'My Melancholy Blues' has minimal static on the intro but it is very quiet and non-intrusive.  It then plays to a standard that is rarely found today.  I often find this final track has some 'background' but there is none here aside from the mega light static on the intro.  It is a wonderful version and plays with highly impressive clarity.  A sublime finish to this fabulous first pressing.

In summary this early first pressing plays 'as new' for the vast majority, approx 99% in my opinion!  I do not over-grade as my regular customers know and this is without doubt a stunning first press.  Apart from the two minor indiscretions on S2 the quality of the audio would be nigh on impossible to improve upon and as stated not only has it been hardly played but it has been incredibly well preserved also.  There is complete silence in the dead wax between every track and it is astonishing just how well it plays.  Having played every second I can obviously give a fair assessment, the sonic quality and clarity is quite simply stunning.  The gatefold is also super clean as is the lyric inner.

The Gatefold

The G&L gatefold is in very impressive condition that has minimal shelf wear.  The edges have barely any rubbing and the wide spine has only a little wear at either end and a few miniscule 'rubs'.  The corners are very clean overall with only a small amount of wear and the opening edge has no handling wear whatsoever.  The front cover is extremely clean with no marking other than a very faint 'line' near the top edge and the back cover is in perfect order.  The inside of the gatefold is immaculate.  A great looking cover which would be hard to beat!

The Lyric inner

The paper inner is so prone to wear and it is rare to find one with no side splits.  This one is very clean with only one very small 2cm split on the right side.  It has the four rounded corners as per the first pressings and aside from the small split it is in great condition with no marking, creasing or writing. 

The labels

They are both mega clean and have no marking or writing.  There are only a couple of very faint wispy spindle traces on each side and as stated I would say the vinyl has only been very lightly played.
