QUEEN

“NEWS OF THE WORLD”

(NOTICIAS DEL MUNDO)

RARE original EMI Records very first STEREO press released, made and distributed in Chile in 1977 by EMI ODEON CHILENA S.A., with traditional brown/red labels with black lettering and red “EMI”, catalog number 5173, with matrix numbers YAX-5355 (Z) 4 in Side A and YAX 5356 4 in Side B. WOW!!! Another rare album from Chile!!!

“NEWS OF THE WORLD” was originally released in 1977 by EMI Records in Europe and by Elektra Records in USA. The same year, like most of Queen albums after “A Night At The Opera”, we got this album released here in Chile but like in so many cases of the period we got a full laminated flipback cover, made of an only piece of thin cardboard folded in the middle with back cover pasted on the flips of front cover. Front and back cover keep strictly the original artwork, with all text written in English, with the only difference that in back cover is the catalog number at top right corner and EMI Records logo at top left corner, with full credits at bottom right corner and the text “Marca Registrada, Fabricado Y Distribuido por EMI ODEON CHILENA S.A. Santiago - Chile” (“Trademark, Made and Distributed by EMI ODEON CHILENA S.A. Santiago - Chile”). In labels the album title is written in Spanish only and tracklist is written in Spanish, translated to English, with full credits for songwriters. So, yes Sirs, here you have the chance to own this nice issue of “News Of The World” with unique non-gatefold cover!!! WOW!!!

The cover was already described and it’s in EX- or EX condition for both sides, clean, clear, complete, no marks or names written, only very light ring marks, some minimal wear in edges, more evident in corners and mouth edge, some creases, but seams fully intact. The record is in strong VG or VG+ condition both sides, glossy and clean, with many scuffs, light hairlines and very light scratches, which don’t affect play. Labels are in EX or EX+ condition both sides, clean and clear, absolutely free of marks but with a very light spindle hole wear. The sound is in strong VG or VG+ condition both sides, loud, clear and clean, with a very soft background noise (surface noise is normal in records from Chile), with light constant crackles and some occasional light pops and clicks here and there, more evident in the silent parts, which don’t cause major distraction from the great sound this record keeps from the beginning to the end. But I detected a little jump at the first lines of “We Are The Champions”, the words “I’ve Had My Share Of Sand” are missed in my turntable (the song plays “I’ve Made A Few … Kicked In My Face”), so I’d recommend a professional vacuum cleaning, I’m almost sure I’ve not could remove all particles of dust or maybe it’s only my turntable, you already know that records behave different in different turntables. Anyway, most of songs plays in absolute EX- condition. Overall, this record could not to be for Minty minds or audiophiles, but sure it’s still in a great condition for any collector who knows this record is a real rarity of Queen and let me tell you again that cover keeps in great condition, labels are almost immaculate and even the sound quality, with that little jump I detected in my turntable, won’t disappoint anyone!!! WOW!!! Another FIND FROM CHILE AGAIN!!! Click on the pictures to enlarge and see the labels and cover in detail.

Bid with confidence and don’t wait until the last second because you could lose the chance to get a real collectable record from Chile (South America) in superb condition like this copy is. You know South American records aren’t easy to get in good conditions, so HAPPY BIDDING and don’t let this record to go away… you could never see a so good copy of this record again… if you are lucky enough to see even another copy again…

Thanks for watching and bidding, good luck and best regards from Chile

_________________________________________________________

We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.

MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.

NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

FEEDBACK

We don’t have anything to hide and we know the buyers expect to receive feedback after to pay for the items they win. Most of sellers say to give feedback when buyers leave feedback first. But we know that’s not fair for buyers. So, we leave feedback immediately after to receive the payment, because we understand that’s the part that buyers must receive feedback for. And we expect to receive a positive feedback from buyers who receive the records immediately after they have got the records.
