QUEEN OF THE NIGHT 78 RPM Record FLORENCE FOSTER JENKINS Melotone Label
It's getting harder to find these records; this one is from my collection and it's hard to let go.
Queen of the Night is the record that most collectors hold on to. However, this one is not in the greatest condition. It has wear marks on both sides, large scratches on the Serenata side, and chips in the outer grooves. The chips can be seen in the photos.
The chips, or bites, only take part of the outer groove and do not affect playback. The chips are not near the grooves.
The labels on both sides show wrinkling and light damage, but are intact.
Both sides play back with light to moderate surface noise.
Queen of the Night sounds good, but there is is a noticeable tic tic tic tic sound in the second half of the recording.
Serenata side is scratched, but plays strong.
It's interesting to listen to these, hearing Jenkins's actual voice in the actual recording studio. She certainly tried her best to sing as well as she could. This record, despite the issues, is gold.
