Queen Rocks A1/B1/C1/D1 1st Press 2LP 1997

This is one of the finest examples of this double album that I have ever seen... or heard!  Pressed on 180g vinyl the previous owner assured me he had only played it the once and indeed there is just one tiny spindle trace on the S1 label.  The clarity, power, depth and resonance of the audio across all four sides is stunning and there is no background, no interference to be heard.  It certainly plays like it has never seen a turntable before.  This is without doubt a FINAL UPGRADE album as it just could not play any better.

The gatefold has been preserved beautifully and has no wear worthy of mention and the inner sleeves are just perfect.  This is one stunning 'package' - it's hard to believe it is now fast approaching 30 years of age!

Visual description

The vinyls are in superb condition and still have an immaculate jet-black glossy sheen with no marks or scratches.  Under a bright light there are no obvious hairlines, just a handful of very faint ones on the second record.  This album is often found with some 'markings' but his easily one of the cleanest I have ever seen.  As stated the labels are incredibly clean also with only one tiny trace on the S1 label.

Play grading

As this album has only been played once before there is no need to grade each track individually.  However, my usual standard still apply!  In other words I will play each track in full and will note any background / interference.

S1 plays with stunning power and definition with no sign of any intrusion.  The first track 'We Will Rock You' has a couple of light statics on the intro that is all, something you always hear on vinyl.  In essence the entire side is 'as new' with a clarity of sound that could not be any more impressive.  In my opinion 'I Want It All' is a real highlight, a superb version!  And it has to be said this 'Seven Seas Of Rhye' version is so much 'cleaner' than what you will find on any Queen '73 vinyl.  This side grades as Mint from start to finish.

'Hammer To Fall' plays with such quality and of course there is no interference.  Again the audio definition is so much stronger than any Works version, you can see why this double album is so sought after.  The same applies to 'Stone Cold Crazy' and 'Now I'm Here' is just as strong with no background during the 'quieter' moments.  'Fat Bottomed Girls' and 'Keep Yourself Alive' are of the same high end standard.  Another Mint side.

S3 plays with stunning precision and again there is no background, zero, nada!  An example of this is on the relatively quiet 'One Vision' intro.  Perfect clarity once more.  'Sheer Heart Attack' rocks out loud and true and the classic 'I'm In Love With My Car' is just STUNNING!  Just noticed you can hear a piano at the end, can't say I've ever noticed that before!  Once more that's a measure of the clarity on offer - every track grades as Mint on this side.

'Put Out The Fire' and 'Headlong' can also be described 'as new' and the classic 'It's Late' plays with phenomenal audio through every loud and not so loud section!  The clarity and power of the audio is up there with the best I have ever heard.  The final track 'No-One But You' ends the album with genuine quality i.e. no intrusion.  The quiet intro has no background and thereafter plays with such depth and warmth, it truly is a superb version.  This side also grades as Mint

The Gatefold & Inner Sleeves

The glossy cover is in pristine condition with no shelf wear.  Ok one tiny corner crease bottom left but nothing else.  The edges and wide spine are perfect and the opening edges have no handling wear.  The front and back cover are unmarked and the inside of the gatefold is just as clean.  A stunning example for sure.

Both of the picture inners are immaculate with no side splits or marking.  Brand new basically.

I will only send items items worldwide via tracked shipping.  This provides 'peace of mind' in case of loss or damage.  The shipping costs are shown below and combined shipping is always offered.  Any over-payment will always be refunded.

The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD).  An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known.  Because of this I will sometimes have to estimate the cost and this will be shown in the listing.  Please wait for the invoice before making payment and if you have any questions please feel free to ask.  Many thanks.

All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection.  They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection.  I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.

The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each.  There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up!  Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
