SHEER HEART ATTACK (4U/4U) very early pressing

This very early pressing of Sheer Heart Attack is in stunning condition.  The vinyl plays to the highest standard possible and the laminated cover is more or less as new.

 Visual grading

  This vinyl looks stunning under a bright light.  I cannot see any hairlines and visually it is superb.  This record has been so well looked after and it has been hardly played as there is only very minimal spindle wear.  It is so incredibly clean and just looks brand new and has such a glossy sheen you'd think it was one of the recent reissues not a 4U/4U pressing from 1974!  This is probably the best early pressing I have ever seen and heard.  It is in immaculate condition for 42 years old.  Wow!!

Play grading

Suffice to say Side Two continues the quality.  Again the depth and richness of the sound across the side is just immense and an indicator of the quality is how well the quiet tracks play.  'Dear Friends' has no static or crackle at all.  Every track plays superbly well with no background noise, they quite simply play as new.  Gosh I just heard two faint dust ticks at the end of 'She Makes Me', that's as bad as it gets!!  The depth and resonance on every track is incredible and belies its 42 years.

In summary, this is a stunning final upgrade copy and having heard so many pressings of this classic LP down the years this is in my Top 3, without doubt.  It is in sublime condition and as you can see I do not have enough superlatives for it!  This is the holy grail of early 4U/4U pressings, you will not hear better!  

Cover

The G & L laminated cover is in wonderful condition and has been hardly handled.  The edges are especially clean and have no shelf wear.  It would be Mint but for a tiny tiny 'nick' on the opening edge that is barely visible and a small crease on the reverse side near the spine.  The laminate has not lifted anywhere and is the best cover I have seen in a long time.  In a word, stunning.

Lyric inner

The paper lyric inner is exceptionally clean with no creasing and the only imperfection is a very small amount of wear at the bottom covering 3cms.  It really isn't that obvious however.  As per the early pressings it has three cut corners.

I would grade the vinyl as Mint- (only because it isn't sealed!)
