Visual grading

The vinyl is visually stunning and still has an immaculate glossy sheen with no marks or scratches.  All I can find under a strong light is a small section of very faint sleeve removal hairlines on S1 and nothing on S2.  The run out grooves are pristine and the original EMI labels are unmarked and have no spindle wear.  The S2 label just has one of those small 'lines' by the spindle caused during the manufacture I am sure.

Play grading

The fairground intro on 'Brighton Rock' has no 'background' and Brian's first foray also plays perfectly.  Freddie's opening vocal section keeps up the standard and it continues to play with sensational quality.  The power and depth of the music is very strong indeed.  The classic instrumental section is comparable to a record that was pressed yesterday not 45+ years ago!  There is no interference and the clarity is just out of this world!  As the volume builds there is no decrease in quality and the final vocal is as good as the first.  To the end it plays without fault and this is undoubtedly a Mint start to the album.  And wow what a start!

From the first note to the last 'Killer Queen' is 'as new' with not even a single dust tick.  An easy one to grade this is Mint every day of the week.

Already this is sounding repetitive (!) but 'Tenement Funster' again plays with a clarity and definition that cannot be faulted.  Has this record ever been played.  One of Roger's early classics this plays with stunning sonic quality throughout.  Mint

The segue into 'Flick Of The Wrist' could not play any better and it continues to play with stunning precision through every vocal and instrumental section with no sign of any interference.  Lyrically a precursor to Death On Two Legs perhaps it is 'as new' and Mint is again deserved.  So far there has not been a single dust tick on the first four tracks let alone anything more!

'Lily Of The Valley' again plays like the album was only purchased yesterday with a clarity and depth that is second to none.  Mint

The intro on 'Now I'm Here' is flawless and as Freddie comes in the clarity is still there. From then on it plays with genuine power and depth and despite being pressed on relatively thin vinyl and the final track on the side there is barely any inner groove distortion, a rarity for this track.  A Mint- version to end a stunning side of music.

'In The Lap Of The Gods' bursts into action on S2 with a perfect intro and the opening vocal has no 'background' either.  The entire 'chorus' section has a clarity of sound that is just outstanding and to the very end there is not so much as a dust ticks.  Each note is so sharp and precise and this is another Mint track.

What follows is the most dynamic version of 'Stone Cold Crazy' that I have heard in a long time.  It plays with exceptional power and depth and there is no distortion.  There are no ticks, clicks or pops and is Mint etc etc!

'Dear Friends' plays beautifully with not even a solitary dust tick.  It's not often this quiet track plays with such distinction and Mint is again correct.

'Misfire' plays with stunning quality from start to finish with, you guessed it, no interference not even on the fade out. Mint

'Bring Back That Leroy Brown' has a stunning clarity of sound with literally no interference and Mint is well deserved.

The intro on 'She Makes Me...' is 'as new' and it continues to play with remarkable depth throughout.  Another brief synopsis because you can only describe perfect Mint audio in so many ways!  The audio definition is so impressive here and the clarity is first class also.  Nowhere is this more obvious than on the final 'breathless' section.  Mint

'In The Lap Of The Gods...revisited' ends this flawless album with supreme audio once more.  No ticks, clicks etc this is audio of the highest standard and there is no distortion on the final section either.  I cannot emphasise enough just how strong and clear the audio is here and the 'bomb' right at the end has not one dust tick not even on the fade out.  You know the grade... 

In summary this album is without question a FINAL UPGRADE archive classic and I honestly do not think I have ever heard a more 'complete' Sheer Heart Attack.  Ok not a first pressing but it is still a relatively early one and has no 'background' on either side, how rare is that?  And I mean NO 'background' not one dust tick and obviously no clicks, pops or static.  The audio is absolutely STUNNING and you could not find a more impressive version.  This may well have been preserved inside a time capsule such is the quality!  A beautifully preserved copy.
