Queen : The Complete Works 14LP Box Set 1985
This highly collectable box set is 35 years old year and rarely are they seen in this condition. It has been beautifully preserved and all the vinyls are in pristine condition. This is one of the un-numbered versions.
It includes Queen's first 11 studio albums, their live album Live Killers and Complete Vision which contained all the non-album A-sides and B-sides to that point. In addition the box also contains two books, the first with all the album artwork, a full page individual photo of each band member, a discography and solo projects. The other has a tour itinerary from '71 to '85 with a list of equipment they carried with them plus food and drink requirements! The final insert is a world map showing where Queen played and charted. Each album is contained in a white sleeve with an embossed crest and gold Roman numerals. However, the crest was sometimes missing and this is indeed the case with four of the LPs here, News Of The World, Flash Gordon, Hot Space and The Works. This is a common feature on this box set and not that rare sadly!
The previous owner assured me that only 4/5 of the vinyls had ever been played and then only once or twice. The majority have no spindle wear and there are no hairlines or scratches on any of them.
The vast majority of the covers are in immaculate condition. 'Flash Gordon' has one faint crease and 'Complete Vision' has just the one very small mark on the front. Not one of them has a spine split which is a rarity! I will ensure this remains the case as all vinyl will be removed from their covers so no damage occurs in transit. The DRG Malago sleeves are in perfect condition also as are all the inserts.
The box itself is in lovely condition with only one corner crease that is a few cms long. Towards the bottom of one edge there are a handful of very small faint marks but they can only be seen when the box is held at a certain angle. In saying that this box is rarely ever found this clean and remains very robust and the corners are as strong as when first manufactured by in '85. What is noticeable is just how fantastically clean the inside of the box is. The top lid has only a little 'print' marking around the edges and the bottom lid is just Mint it is super clean!
