The Game

This very early pressing plays with immaculate audio, practically 'as new' and is a final upgrade archive copy without doubt.  It also has a very impressive 'silver foil' cover and a near perfect lyric inner.

Visual grading

This is a real beauty!  The record is visually stunning and I cannot detect any obvious hairlines or scratches at all.  It looks 'as new' and still has a fantastic glossy sheen despite its age.  With only a little spindle wear this has not been played too much and when it has it has obviously always been very carefully handled.  The labels and run out grooves are also beautifully clean.

Play grading  

'Play The Game' on S1 plays with stunning Mint- audio with only a couple of seconds of mega light static on the intro.  The sonic quality and clarity here is incredible.  I can't stress enough just how good it sounds and even the fade out has no 'background'.  'Dragon Attack' and 'Another One Bites The Dust' continue this dynamic quality with such strong bass, the sound is just so rich and deep.  Every track on this side plays with Mint- quality.  When you find an early pressing as clean as this what is obvious is the clarity of sound.  Each instrument plays so clearly with great definition and there is no 'muddiness' to the sound at all.  'Need Your Loving Tonight' has no distortion which is a rarity.  'Crazy Little Thing Called Love' ends this astonishing side with superlative audio once more.  Wow!

The intro on 'Rock It' has a minimal amount of mega quiet static and still has wonderful clarity.  The remainder plays with great quality and is 'as new'.  'Don't Try Suicide' is near perfect aside from a hint of static for a few seconds around the 'Get on my t*ts' line.  Perhaps I am being too overly critical because it certainly doesn't interfere with the 'high end' audio.  The rest of the track is stunning and the fade out has no 'background' at all.  The remaining tracks once again impress with breathtaking quality.  There is no interference and it is no exaggeration to grade them as Mint- they are that good.  Then minus is only there because the album isn't sealed!  For 'Save Me' to play with such impeccable sound on a near 40 year old record is such a rarity and especially when you consider how many quiet sections it has and again the fade out has no 'background'.  A superb end to a simply superb album.  Wow!

In summary this is a final upgrade archive copy for certain.  The clarity is astounding and the depth and sonic quality is of the highest calibre possible.  With no interference of any kind and complete silence between tracks it is rare to find an early 'foil sleeve' pressing play with Mint- quality.  A genuine find this will impress any avid collector. 

The Cover

These 'silver foil' sleeves as anyone knows are incredibly difficult to keep in good condition.  By their very nature they are often found with many marks and worn edges.  I am pleased to say this one has stood the test of time very well and the edges and thin pinched spine are in superb condition with no wear at all even the opening edge has very little handling wear.  The corners also remain in great order with no rubbing.  The front cover is very clean and has only a couple of minor marks the most obvious of which is a small indent near the top edge.  The back cover is also in excellent shape with only a couple of small creases and some other minor creases next to the spine.  Both sides have a little ringwear but this is always the case.  Overall this is one of the cleaner 'silver foil' covers I have seen in a long time and not wrecked like so many.

The lyric inner  

This is in near perfect condition and has only one small age related mark bottom right and on the reverse side.  Aside from that it is like new with no splits or wear to the thumb notch.  It has the rounded corners and is made with thick card as per the first/early pressings 

The labels

They have no marking or writing and only a very small amount of spindle wear.  They are so clean they look almost 'as new'.
