Visual grading

This has been so well looked after down the years.  The record is visually stunning and I can only detect a couple of very faint hairlines and a 2/3 tiny speck marks on the vinyl that have no affect on the superb quality of the audio.  It has only been lightly played, S1 has hardly any spindle wear and S2 just a little more.  It still has a beautiful glossy sheen and the labels and run out grooves are also fantastic condition.

Play grading

The opening couple of grooves on S1 have no obvious static and 'Play The Game' then has audio that can only be graded as Mint the clarity and depth is quite simply of the highest standard possible.  'Dragon Attack' again plays with the same breathtaking quality and the precision of the audio is immaculate.  There is just no interference of any kind.  'Another One Bites The Dust' continues in the same way with only a handful of mega light dust ticks, so much in the background and totally non-intrusive.  Of course this is such a bass orientated album and the bass here is so strong, the sound is so rich and deep.  When you find an early pressing as 'clean' what is obvious is the clarity and definition of the sound.  'Need Your Loving Tonight' is faultless and is another Mint track without doubt.  It plays without distortion which is a rarity.  'Crazy Little Thing Called Love' ends this immaculate 'as new' side with no 'background' and is yet another stunning listen.  Audio does not get better than this!

The quiet intro on 'Rock It' has no clicks or pops and there is no intrusive static either.  It is one of the most impressive intros I have ever heard in a long time.  In a word...stunning!  It continues to play in the same vein with no interference at all.  This is another track displaying audio of the highest calibre.  'Don't Try Suicide' is near perfect aside from one faint 'tick' about 30 seconds in.  The remainder plays in impeccable style with a depth and clarity that is 'high end'.  This is a superb version of this track and even the fade out has no 'background'.  'Sail Away Sweet Sister' has very light static on the intro but it certainly does not interfere with the quality of the listen.  Thereafter it plays faultlessly and the long fade out is so clear and is 'as new'.  'Coming Soon' impresses from the word go and again plays with a power and depth that you only find on the early pressings.  Such strong bass again.  No 'background' just pure quality all the way.  The quiet intro on 'Save Me' has to be heard to be believed!  A couple of barely audible dust ticks perhaps but this is the kind of clarity you only find on a high quality vinyl pressed only yesterday!  The rest of this classic does not disappoint.  So often final tracks have some interference but this is without doubt the 'cleanest' version I have ever heard.  It provides an immaculate end to an album that plays with stunning quality throughout.  The fade out has no 'background'. either.

In summary this is a final upgrade archive copy for sure.  The clarity is astounding and for a near 40 year old record to play as impressively as this is a rare find indeed.  With only one faint 'tick' the clarity and strength of the audio is stunning and what with a lovely foil cover this will add to any collection.

The Cover

This 'silver foil' cover is in excellent condition with very little shelf wear.  The edges and thin pinched spine are in superb condition with no wear and the corners also remain in wonderful condition, just one tiny crease on the bottom right one.  The opening edge has no handling wear as such just one very minor crinkle towards the bottom.  The front and back cover are very clean with only some light scratching.  As any Queen collector knows this always occurs with this cover unless still sealed!  The spine does have some small creases either side of it.  Overall this is a great example of this first/early press cover and as can be seen has the 'Factory Sample - Not For Sale' sticker on the back.

The lyric inner

This is in perfect condition with no wear, a stunning version.  Made with thick card it has the rounded corners as per the first/early pressings.  No marks or creases anywhere.

The labels

They have no marking or writing and as stated very little spindle wear, almost nothing on S1!
