Visual grading

This is one beautiful looking vinyl!  With only one or two plays at most there are only a couple of mega faint spindle lines and the vinyl has retained an immaculate, pristine quality that is so rarely seen on a first pressing.  There are only a couple of very faint, tiny hairlines on S2 and there are no scratches to be seen.  The run out grooves are super clean and this is the most impressive first press I have seen for a long time.  The audio as detailed below is of the highest calibre.

Play grading  

There is no lead in static on S1 whatsoever so you know you're onto a winner!  'Party' then plays with what can only be described as Mint audio,  the clarity and depth could not be any better.  The seque into 'Khashoggi's Ship' is perfect and thereafter is of exactly the same quality as the preceding track.  What can I say about 'The Miracle'?  Absolutely awesome!  From the very first note the audio is stunning and there is just no interference of any kind, not even a single dust tick!  Pure sublime Mint quality throughout with no 'background' on the fade out either.  For any record approaching 30 years old to play as cleanly as this is a rarity and pays testament to how well it has been preserved.  'I Want It All' continues in the same fashion and 'rocks out' loud and true with superb depth and power.  Again no clicks or pops, static or crackle.  'The Invisible Man' ends the side with, you guessed it, audio of the highest order.  As anyone knows the bass is so prevalent on this track and when you find a first pressing that has been hardly played this bass sound is strong and plays fantastically well.  A truly stunning version and again no 'background' on the fade out.

The intro on 'Breakthru' is so often affected by static or crackle I find but there is barely any here, a maximum of 4,5 mega light dust ticks I would say.  I only mention this to be complete in my grading - this is still a track that sparkles with Mint quality audio in my opinion and as my regular customers know I do not exaggerate as it is not in my interests!  There is no distortion on the top level and this is quite simply a stunning version of this opening track.  'Rain Must Fall' plays to the same 'high end' with no interference of any kind.  Great depth here and of course a strong bass sound again.  The classic 'Scandal' has minimal light static on the quiet intro, totally non-intrusive and it is not crackle!  The clarity and depth from then on is again of Mint quality as there is just nothing that detracts from the superb sonic quality on offer.  Just a couple of dust ticks on the fade out.  'My Baby Does Me' is stunning from start to finish.  For fear of being repetitive the clarity is akin to a vinyl pressed only yesterday not nearly 30 years ago!  The intro on 'Was It All Worth It' is immaculate and is the 'cleanest' I have heard in a long time, no 'background' of any kind.  Final tracks on any side often play with some distortion, especially one as loud as this, so I am pleased to say there is none here at all.  The power is all encompassing and it could not play any better!  A breathtaking end to a classic album.  And yes, no interference of the quiet end section.

In summary this A1/B2 first pressing plays with fantastic quality and is without doubt a final upgrade archive copy.  I have not heard such clarity on a genuine first press for a long time and put simply it plays 'as new'.  With complete silence between every track this is 'high end' audio and will not disappoint the true audiophile.  With a  lovely cover and perfect lyric inner this completes a truly stunning 'package'.

The Cover

This cover is notoriously difficult to keep I find but this one has been extremely well preserved down the years.  The edges and spine are in superb order - only the top edge has one tiny rub mark.  The spine has a minimal amount of corner wear only and the opening edge is perfectly clean with no handling wear.  The front and back cover have no marking or creasing at.  This really is a fantastic example of this iconic cover.

This is in sublime condition with no marking or creasing and no side splits either.  You could not find a better one, absolutely superb!

The labels

They are in near perfect condition with only a couple of mega faint spindle lines.  This vinyl has been hardly played which is confirmed by the stunning audio!
