There's not as many hardcore veterans still as consistently involved in the scene as New York City humble icon Walter Schreifels. Making his start in seminal bands like Gorilla Biscuits and Youth Of Today, who he still regularly tours with, as well as his 90s alt rock cult outfit Rival Schools, post-hardcore heroes Quicksand still maintain his intrigue and input all these years later. Following the recent represses of their acclaimed first two albums - 1993's debut Slip and 1995's sophomore follow up Manic Compression, Bring On The Psychics marks the third of the band's post-reunion records following on from 2017's Interiors and 2021's Distant Populations. Featuring longtime former Deftones bassist Sergio Vega and, since 2021 at least, Stephen Brodsky (Cave In, Mutoid Man) as second guitarist, the group further their experimental forays into post-hardcore indebted alternative metal, reminiscent of the darker yet melancholic sides of Fugazi or Helmet.
