Description
QUICKSILVER MESSENGER SERVICE: Marin County Cowboys & Outtakes from HAPPY TRAILS. Someone (not me) went to a great deal of trouble gathering together from various sources, the group’s music, along with employing high grade recording tape (BASF - that comes in wonder box etc.) 3600 feet in length (that run 96 minutes per side) 4 track open reel to reel @ 7-1/2 inches per second. Having my own large collection of QMS odds and ends there was nothing that I did not already have. I only played this tape once. However, it might of interest to someone else. All but one of the recording dates are correct, at least to the exend I can confirm. Edward, the Mad Shirt Grinder @ Winterland Arena 1/31/68 is incorrect, at least strictly by the date. This song performed by Nicky Hopkins with QMS had not been written yet and he had not yet joined them. On that date Nicky was still with the Jeff Beck Group. The song was performed by QMS w/Hopkins @ Winterland on 12/31/69, a 10 hour concert, featuring four groups which I attended. SMOKE FREE HOME. (NOTE THE COLOR PICTURE ON BACK OF BASF BOX IS AN IMAGE FROM A POSTER FOR A QMS CONCERT AT THE FILLMORE WEST. HOWEVER IT IS FROM THE END OF JUNE 1970, HAPPY TRAILS WAS RECORDED NOVEMBER 1968 AND RELEASED IN MARCH 1969). ****** PLEASE NOTE THAT THE SIXTH PICTURE IS OF MY FRIEND’S BELOVED ATTACK DOG “MOLLY.” NEITHER SHE OR THE PICTURES THAT FOLLOW, A SELECTION OF HANDBILLS & POSTERS FROM CONCERTS I ATTENDED 1968-1971, ARE BEING OFFERED HERE. THEY JUST LOOK NICE FROM A TIME LONG, LONG TIME AGO. THE ONLY THING BEING OFFERED HERE IS THE QUICKSILVER MESSENGER SERVICE 4 TRACK OPEN REEL TO REEL RECORDING. *******
