VINYL is VG+
High gloss vinyl has a few light marks, viewed in hard bright light, that are mostly inaudible. LP plays very clear, full and bright throughout with only occasional very light tics. Rainbow Rim labels are superb, extremely clean with no spindle marks.
COVER is VG+
Original metallic silver undercoat cover shows moderate shelf wear -inevitable with the original issues that had the (solid) black and (transparent) red ink printed over metallic silver ink background; which is why the very rare copies still found in shrink wrap can fetch hundreds of dollars. Still, this cover is much better than most found today.
Rick Griffin's superb acid lettering/artwork displays beautifully. Seams and spine are solid -touch of wear, no splits. All edges straight, all corners sharp.
A San Francisco Rock classic of the first order.
Quicksilver's first album featured the premier line-up of John Cipollina and Gary Duncan on twin lead quitars, David Freiberg on bass and vocals and Greg Elmore on drums. Their biggest hit "Pride of Man" plus the phenomenal dual lead guitar workout "Gold and Silver" and the epic, heavily acid laden "The Fool" are all stand-outs on an LP where every song was a gem. This and the 2nd LP "Happy Trails" are equally beloved by aficionados of the band; some declaring "...Trails" to be their best, others preferring this, their 1st album. I definitely fall into that camp.
This LP was a long time in gestation -the band refused to record until they had exactly what they wanted. The writing, sonic subtleties and psychedelic effects are simply stunning, but never excessive, gratuitous or overblown. Truly an amazing debut statement from one of the top San Francisco bands.

All records packed with vinyl (inside inner sleeve) behind cover - and shipped in strong LP mailer boxes with bubble-wrap around all sides - sandwiched between stiff corrugated flats for best protection in the mail.
