Queen Greatest Hits Balkanton PD BTA 11253/54 Picture Sleeve made in West Germany for the Bulgarian market.

Listed as #14 in the Top 100 Queen rarities in Record Collector Magazine Jan 1998

I purchased this record around 1984-1985 in the "Import" section at the Last Place on Earth Record Shop in Duluth, Minnesota, USA.  After doing a bit of reasearch on it, I am convinced this is an authentic item and not a bootleg.  The catalog number matches the dead wax number (there are also the initials "PF" engraved in the dead wax as well.  The  "Marshall" can be seen on both amplifiers, and you can also see Brian May's hand on the cover as well.  http://www.platonet.it/~ferdy/Queen/picdisc.htm This link describes the difference between an authentic LP and a bootleg one.  Whatever the reason why this is collectable, it sure is NOT the sound quality.  The groove cramming (9 songs on one side, 10 on the other) is downright laughable. Put this on a PICTURE DISC, and your Boheimian Rhapsodies and your Fat Bottomed Girls make the Robert Johnson field recordings sound like Steely Dan.  The record itself is in suprisingly excellent condition considering it was packaged in that "hard vinyl" sleeve that was popular with picture discs.  The original sheen is there along with no visible marks or scratches.

I have seen this album on sale for as much as $1,086.60 http://eil.com/shop/moreinfo.asp?catalogID=223661&adtype=225.  Is it really worth THAT much?  I will start the bidding price at about one-tenth of that and let you folks decide.
