On the surface, a great recording of the concerts at Budokan Hall in Tokyo on March 31st and April 1st 1967 (tracks with * next to them were recorded on the latter date).
The rest is a mystery to me and I've been collecting Queen and their independent label releases for 25 years.
Originally, this album was released by Idle Mind Productions in 1979 with a variety of labels and sleeves. Very colourful, very punk designs. It was rereleased the following year with a centre display on a blue background.
This version - is it a rare one I've never seen. I'm no encyclopedia but I know my Queen. This version is on a standard white cardboard sleeve with a centre display glued on (in the same design as the 1980 rerelease). There is no insert unlike with that version.
The labels are pink with Side 1 and Side 2 written on the respective label in blue ballpoint pen.
I remember being intrigued when I saw it for the first time and have never got to the bottom of the mystery. The truth will out at some point and you, the new owner, may have a mega rarity on their hands. Or it may be worth nothing. If anyone can shed any light on this for me, I'd be very appreciative.
I'd take the risk just to own this genuine Queen curio. I did!
