Description
This is the original US Purple Pyramid Records 180g vinyl Ltd Edition 2014 issue, with the earliest A-1, B-1, C-1, D-1 matrices of the very first presses and the lyric insert! This is the first release of the Quicksilver's performance at the Fillmore Auditorium on the 5th of November 1966, supporting Muddy Waters over three nights. The sound engineer at the Fillmore West was Owsley Stanley, who created his 'Wall of Sound' audio system to record many of the bands that appeared between 1966 to 1967, especially the Grateful Dead. He was also central to the west coast scene as the chemist who produced much of the LSD in San Francisco in those years. Since 2008 his many recordings have finally started to be released on Bear Records and since his death in 2011 on Purple Pyramid Records in the US for UK/EU import.
es of the very first presses and the lyric insert! The glossy gatefold sleeve is intact & still shrink wrapped with the Ltd Edition sticker and has never been opened, so still in in NM condition. The wide spine is intact and fully readable. The plain inners and lyric insert are in EX+/NM condition. The records are in visually in EX+/NM condition, with only one or two faint sleeve removal hairlines on sides 1 & 2 & a couple of faint hairlines visible on sides 3 & 4. The labels are in EX+NM condition, clean & bright with no evidence of spindle markings on any side. The sound reproduction is EX+/NM, clear & precise throughout with no loud crackle or hiss and definately no skips, sticks or jumps and only played twice from new. Overall, a really great, clear and lively listen. The matrix nos. are; CLP-1559, A-1 stamper ?, B-1 stamper ?, LP-2, A-1 stamper ?, B-1 stamper ?. This is one of the very early pressings of the original 2014 US/UK/EU import stereo 1st issue of this album!
