Description

Original UK Capitol label stereo 1st press LP.

The third album by Quicksilver Messenger Service issued in the UK in March 1970 and recorded in San Francisco in June to September 1969. With British pianist Nicky Hopkins replacing Gary Duncan who had left the band and contributing songs such as Edward The Mad Shirt Grinder. The album was first released in the USA in December 1969 in a gatefold sleeve, but in Britain the album was issued with a single sleeve.

This is the original issue with the green Capitol target labels and the earliest F-9 F-9 matrices and 1-G 1-A stampers!

The Garrod & Lofthouse matt single sleeve is intact & in EX condition, with some light corner/edge wear and very light storage rubbing on the outer cover. The spine is intact and fully readable, the plain inner is intact & in EX condition.

The record is in visually EX condition, with only a couple of faint sleeve removal hairlines and one or two small needle marks/scuffs visible on each side. The labels are in EX condition, clean & bright with evidence of a couple of spindle markings on each side.   The sound reproduction is EX, still clear & precise throughout with no loud pops, hiss or crackle & definately no skips, sticks or jumps, but there is some very brief low background noise during the run in grooves. Overall, just a really great, loud & clear listen.   The matrix nos. are; ESKAO-1 391-F-9 stamper 1-G, ESKAO-2 391-F-9 stamper 1-A. This is one of early copies of the first pressing of the original UK stereo issue of this 1970 album!
