Description
Back in 1999 when 'Bad Santa' Director Terry Zwigoff was making 'Ghost World' I purchased many items from him and he also had Robert Crumb send records and collectibles to me. The funds were much needed to complete the film Terry was working on. Who knew then what a smash Terry would have with 'Bad Santa'?
This signed copy of the rare 'Ordinary Record' (Wisconsin Wiggles and River Blues) was sent to me from France by Crumb at that time. Somewhere between Terry and Robert's collections they found and sent me the pictured inflatable art which I believe to be a prototype. Terry said that it was desirable memorabilia and sent it as a gift.
The artwork is a screened transfer and I am unsure if the piece was ever issued. It is 12 X 12 inches. The back is unprinted and a valve is sealed with wax.
FYI:
Terry Zwigoff and R. Crumb not only were members of the Cheap Suit Serenaders (performing on this recording) but they have had a lifelong association in the arts.
Terry's Academy Award winning film 'Crumb' is considered by many to be the quintessential art documentary of our time. The film turned out to be magic for both friends.
These Ordinary Records were scarce when issued. They were inexpensively pressed so they all suffer from some degree of press warp. I have played this record once (it presents as new) and it plays through at 78 RPM without skipping. It is of course much more valuable now as artwork. R. Crumb's signature is bold and strong on a very clean example of the rare jacket.
I will send a copy of one of Terry Zwigoff's letters (signed and notarized by me) authenticating the details herein described.
Don't miss this one. It is the real deal and these records are very hard to come by especially when signed by Crumb himself. There is history here.
