Condition: Record & Sleeve NEAR-MINT

Description : Famed producer/facilitator Ibrahima Sylla released the exemplary Mali Stars series of re-issues of classic Malian Afrobeat bands from the golden era of the 60s to mid 80s on his own label. All are notable for good sound.

Bamako’s Rail Band were one of the most internationally celebrated: this recording is from 1977 with Mory Kante as lead singer and superlative guitarist Djelimady Tounkara directing: utterly wonderful rolling Manding music with guitars, horns, bass, drums & percussion, including some great Afro-psych guitar effects – quite similar to what Orchestra Baobab were evolving in Dakar.

Opener Wale Numa Lombaliya is a solid classic!
