'Rising'

Polydor, UK, 1976

2490 137

SOPHOMORE ALBUM from this wonderfully effective hard rock super group featuring Ritchie Blackmore on guitar, drummer Cozy Powell and vocalist Ronnie James Dio. The material is stellar, ranging from volatile epic hard rock tracks such as 'Tarot Women' and 'Starstruck' to more evocative songs like 'Do You Close Your Eyes' and the weirdly constructed but hugely compelling 'Run With The Wolf'. Of course its side two that holds all the aces containing just two tracks, the mind blowing 'Stargazer' and the even more stunning, speed metal rush of 'A Light In The Black'.

Blackmore is on fire at every turn whilst Ronnie James Dio makes full use of that distinctive roar positioning himself as one of the definitive hard rock vocalists. I bought this album when it first came out, as a devout Blackmore worshipper I couldn't have wished for a better record, it was that good and that compelling.

This auction is part of a fantastic collection of seventies rock which I was lucky enough to acquire. Most of these records were stored with the utmost care and sparsely played. Some were possibly never played or may have been for just a handful of times.

Pressing: Polydor, UK, 1976

Vinyl: Nice clean and shiny condition. Can't see any spindle marks and just one non feel-able scuff - not a scratch just a careless mark. Grades as near MINT-!

Cover: Again, minimal signs of use. Issued in a beautifully illustrated gate fold-cover. Sharp corners, no dings, no bends, no ring wear, no split seams and no creases. Spine is perfectly straight, stiff and totally uncrushed. Displays just a hint of handling and storage wear - nothing horrendous. Difficult to find like this 44 years after release. Grades as top Ex+
