For auction here is an EXTREMELY RARE pre-release demonstration copy of one of the greatest punk albums ever made: Ramones 'Rocket To Russia'. Sire Records SR 6042
The Ramones are one of the greatest bands in the history of all rock music and this is their masterpiece.
Straight out of their native New York and released just as the punk rock revolution was turning the music business inside out only a handful of these test pressings would ever have been manufactured in advance of the LP's release in October '77.
This is an industry only white label demo copy distributed to band members and record company executives only. A sticker on the label states: "Available only to technical and other authorized personnel."
This copy even still has the flimsy xerox company sheet showing track listing, publishing and other technical information.
The disc itself is in fantastic condition. The vinyl bright, rich & glossy and free from scratches, wear and warp. Under bright light there are just a few very light marks here and there that do not effect play at all and cannot be heard.
The blank white labels are fresh and clean with no writing or signs of age. It is housed in a plain clean white card sleeve with the name Ron Needham neatly written in red biro at one corner.
All in all this record looks like it could have been delivered just yesterday which is amazing given that this super rare, classic disc is now forty five years old.
During the punk rock years, nobody could match the Ramones. Rocket To Russia is the pinnacle of their million miles an hour punk rock genius.
Here is one of the very first copies of this flawless LP ever to see the light of day. True rock history.
