Exceptionally Rare 1900 7 INCH IMPROVED GRAMOPHONE RECORD A-474 MANUFACTURED BY CONSOLIDATED TALKING MACHINE COMPANY PHILADELPHIA, PA.
This is Improved Gramophone Record #A-474:
"WHEN REUBEN COMES TO TOWN SUNG BY DAN W. QUINN".
This was the FIRST PAPER LABEL TO APPEAR ON ANY DISC RECORD.
The precious FEW recordings made on the label were made for only a few short months in 1900 making the record label exceptionally rare indeed.
And having the recording made by Dan W. Quinn makes the recording even more desirable. This record plays well on my modern turntable with light weight tone arm.
The record announcement is, I believe, by Dan W. Quinn himself. The first 20 seconds or so has noticeable and expected surface noise but after that the record plays with moderate surface noise. The entire recording is enjoyable especially if you enjoy Dan W. Quinn's recordings.
There are many small scratches, scuffs and other handling and play wear faults as is typical for a very early record. From a historical perspective this is an important early record label and artist.
