Description

For sale is an extremely rare, museum-quality antique 10" Shellac 78 RPM record from the Belle Époque era (circa 1910-1912). This is an original Concert Record "Gramophone" double-sided pressing, manufactured in Berlin, Germany by Deutsche Grammophon-Aktiengesellschaft.
It features very early historical acoustic recordings made in Athens, Greece, performed by Chorus & Orchestra under the direction of the legendary Greek composer and conductor Dionysios Lavrangas (Διονύσιος Λαυράγκας), the father of modern Greek Opera.
True to the early era of discography, each side features its own unique catalog and matrix number stamped in the dead wax:
• Side 1: "Pesmou (Rodiou)" / ΠΕΣ ΜΟΥ (Catalog G.C.-4-14616 / Matrix 4-14616) • Side 2: "Xypna (Rodiou)" / ΞΥΠΝΑ (Catalog G.C.-4-14615 / Matrix 4-14615)
Condition Report (Visual Grading): • Labels: Beautiful condition! Extremely clean, vibrant light-blue color, fully readable text featuring the iconic original Nipper "His Master's Voice" dog and gramophone logo. • Shellac Surface: Strong deep gloss. Shows typical minor surface hairlines, light handling scuffs, and small vintage oxidation spots due to its 110+ years of age.  • Flatness: Tested on a flat surface and sitting 100% perfectly level with no warping or bending. • Structural Flaws: There is a visible chip/indentation on the outer edge rim (in the dead run-in section before the music tracks start), accompanied by a minor surface lamination flake (clearly shown in the macro photos). If played on a vintage gramophone, it requires manual needle cueing to safely bypass the edge chip. Sold without sleeve.
🌍 SHIPPING POLICY (EUROPE ONLY): • This item SHIPS EXCLUSIVELY TO EUROPEAN COUNTRIES. No worldwide shipping available for this listing. • Shipping will be handled safely via Romanian Post (Posta Romana) as an International Registered Package with a tracking number provided immediately upon dispatch. • IMPORTANT: Shellac is extremely fragile. The record will be packed with professional care using heavy-duty, oversized, multi-layered rigid cardboard and bubble wrap to ensure 100% safe transport.
An incredible and hard-to-find piece of early 20th-century European and Greek musical heritage. Please review the high-resolution photos carefully. Feel free to ask any questions before purchasing!
