"HOLLYWOOD BOWL SERIES" RADIO SHOW TRANSCRIPTION DISCS ISSUED BY THE ARMED FORCES RADIO SERVICE. ONE COMPLETE APPROXIMATELY 1 HOUR 40 MINUTE (100 MINUTES) RADIO PROGRAM ON THESE FOUR 16 INCH, VINYL, 33 1/3 RPM DISCS. THESE DISCS WERE ISSUED TO RADIO STATIONS FOR BROADCAST ONLY AND NOT AVAILABLE TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC. VERY RARE!
This is an excellent radio broadcast from The Famous Hollywood Bowl Featuring The Hollywood Bowl Orchestra conducted by Leopold Stokowski and featuring guest soloist, Isaac Stern, introduced as “one of the most promising of the young American violinists". Music includes:
1. “Overture To The Flying Dutchman” by Wagner
2. “Concerto For Violin In D Major” by Brahms featuring soloist Isaac Stern
intermission
3. “Hary Janos Suite” in 6 movements by Kodaly
4. “Waltzes From Der Rosenkavalier” by Strauss
5. “Rondo Capriccioso For Violin And Orchestra” by Saint-Saens featuring soloist Isaac Stern
The program is 1 hour and 40 minutes and complete.
Discs are in Excellent or better condition, Beautiful Discs! There is some light buzz for 3 minutes and 45 seconds originating from the source of the program during "Rondo Capriccioso For Violin And Orchestra" which is noticeable but not too distracting. Otherwise the sound is Excellent or better
