Read carefully, look carefully, because you may never see this item again in your lifetime!
This is a Super Rare, 33 1/3 rpm Acetate of Judy Garland from 1950 in "Annie Get Your Gun". As you know, Judy Garland was fired from the production, however, the score with her singing was recorded a week or so BEFORE the firing, but was not released at the time.
I personally have never seen an acetate of this before, after collecting records for 30 years.
The label says "Audiosonic Enterprises" 1619 Broadway, NYC. There is a Side One and a Side Two. I have included pics of both labels. As you can see, the typing is clear and very easy to read even after 60 years!!
Audiosonic was a very famous recording studio from the 40s to the 60s when they went bankrupt, and were bought by Variety Recording. Perhaps the soundtrack was recorded at Audiosonic, and they cut a laquer off of it at the time. Or, the tapes were sent to Audiosonic to be mastered for eventual release, but was later cancelled. I do not know.
I of course have NOT played this Acetate, as I will not take a chance in ruining it.
You should not, either. This Disc is a piece of history, and just owning it makes you part of that history. You dont own a fantastic item like this to play, you own it to be part of history.

What I can tell by looking at it is that the laquer base seems to be in VERY good shape for a 60 year old disc. There are no cracks or gouges, and it does NOT have that "white dust" look of a worn out acetate that has been played too many times. There is a tiny part at the very edge (where no music is) where the laquer has slightly chipped, but that does'nt affect the disc in any way. The two labels are in very good condition with clear writing....even the phone number of the studio!!!! Take a look at the label pics.
What will this sound like? Good question, that I cannot answer, because I have not played this Acetate, and neither should you!!. This is too great a find to play and possibly ruin. Buy this to own this, not to play this!!
Lacquer acetates were only meant to last a few plays in order to hear the recording quality before they got very scratchy and unplayable. I would expect a 60 year old acetate record to have surface noise, mostly just due to age. However, the big deal here is not the playback quality, it is the scarcity of the record itself, as laquer cutting was done by hand, one at a time, and the buyer payed for each seperate cutting. I take NO responsibilty if the sound is scratchy...this is an acetate record and NOT a final pressing. Please be aware of this.

I could probably get a whole lot more for this acetate if I took it Southebys and made it a part of their next auction, but I'd rather not do that. Instead I'll offer it here on the Bay, and hope that a Judy Garland fan will win it.
