Description: Up for your consideration is the next in a series of unique LPs, this one some 1960s jazz music from J R Monterose. Some Internet research indicates it was limited to 250 copies when it was sold as a "Studio 4" Lp at the cloakroom of "The Tender Trap" night club in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. I note the back cover indicates Joe Abodeely was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. My research further indicates that it is a coveted article among collectors who have paid astronomical sums for even a used edition and that this music rates as a GREAT example of jazz in the '60s and apparently was recorded in 1964.

Several unique things about this item: Firstly, the record retains the original shine with up to some very slight marks, grading by sight in normal room light. I'm sure if you took this and put it under a 1000 watt bulb, you'd probably find something that makes it less than mint. If you're that kind of collector, and after a recent unpleasant experience with a buyer from Malaysia, let me suggest this auction is not for you. I don't claim this record is mint. I did take the time to play the entire record and found the tracks to audibly average better than 1/3 of the way between VG+(excellent) and Near Mint. I did find the tracks to be very enjoyable.

Secondly, at the time of this listing, no past/present sales on e-bay and no copies found for sale out on the Internet! A copy apparently recently sold for $1911.00 !!!

The back cover notes, in part, that Joe Abodeely "was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. ... In September of 1961, he opened Iowa's only jazz nite-club. Besides being a jazz lover, he is an ardent fan of Frank Sinatra, so he named the club 'The Tender Trap.' He has had such greats as the Count Basie, Maynard Ferguson, Kai Winding, Stan Kenton, Paul Winters and many other groups for jam sessions. ..."

I am using the Goldmine scale of G=Good(1), VG = Very Good(2), VG+ = Very Good Plus(excellent)(3), NM = Near Mint(4) when grading the disc(s).

Side 2: "XCTV 97117 1A" Inner sleeve: A generic, white sleeve in fine shape, slight folding around the corners, slight closed tear of center hole on one side. Cover: Slight wear to all corners, lower outer corner with slight creases to tip of top paper. Slight general/ring wear front/back. No stickers, no seam splits, no pen/pencil marks. Rate the cover VG to VG+(excellent). Comments: . I found the six tracks to audibly average better than 1/3 of the way between VG+(excellent) and Near Mint. Additional criteria I use when audibly grading records for people:

• NM(4) = absolutely nothing wrong at all (very rarely happens--I've even opened sealed records and they don't play Near Mint)
• 3.5-3.9 = very, very light surface noise
• 3.1-3.4 = very light surface noise, very light pops
• VG+(3) = up to light pops and light surface noise (below this, one's enjoyment is affected, very subjective)
• VG(2) = up to medium pops and moderate surface noise
• G(1) = up to heavy pops and heavy surface noise

I normally ship Lp's in 14"x14"x6" boxes padded in styrofoam. Weight with box is about 1 pound 9 oz. Shipping is: $2.77 Media Rate (1-2 pounds) + $.50 box/tape/packing + $.80 delivery confirmation = $4.00.
