PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provice excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. RARE... "POPSIKE" 1968 ORIGINAL with the old sixties 'flipback' seams...
Mr. Lee Grant Kiwi superstar of the late sixties didn't make much of an impression here in the USA but was huge MOD hipster down under in New Zealand...his best of two Lp's released is this, his first, and filled with memorable melodies, including the opening track "Hava Nagilah" that we thought was a strange choice... until reading that Lee Grant was born Bogdan Charis Kominowski to Polish parents on April 22 1945, in a Nazi concentration camp just outside Dusseldorf. His father was killed, but he and his mother survived and emigrated to New Zealand in 1949, settling in Palmerston North, New Zealand... chilling stuff. During the 1966-67 festive period he went on three brief tours as support artist to Normie Rowe, Sandy Edmonds, and the Roy Orbison, Walker Brothers, Yardbirds package. This gave him quite a high level of exposure by the time this first Lp kicked off in 1967 The song "The Real Thing" (not the Russell Morris hit) is probably the best highlight followed by his take on two early Bee Gees mod grooves and hipster Ronnie Burn's hit "Coalman" as well as the Bee Gee's first big hit "Spicks And Specks". By the time Mr Lee Grant had completed the Animals, Dave Dee Dozy Beaky Mick and Tich tour for five weeks, and his hit "Opportunity" (included here) was at number one on the charts in May 1967. CONDITION: The cover is M- top clean ...the old fragile UK-style production with nice lamination on front and with the old sixties style flipback seams...held up quite well for the past 44 years ...no split seams, collectible look and order ...
The vinyl is a heavy sixties inflexible platter, retaining original luster, near "EX" (excellent) having but a nothing hairline scuff or so, all clear otherwise...the great label designs are clean
