RARE and sought 1967 first pressing on the highly collected TOWER RECORD label...a GREAT great garage album injected with psychedelics that explodes on the trippy near 10 minute heady sitar psychedelic epic, "Square Room"
This is Them's third album, recorded after the band had lost their dynamic lead singer Van Morrison and relocated to the US after Kenny McDowell had been installed as their new lead vocalist.
There were other changes too, the most noteworthy is that Them pretty much abandoned the raucous r&b inflected blues-rock of their first recordings and went in a much more psychedelic direction. For the first time, Them were actually operating as a band, and not simply as a bunch of faceless, ever-changing nobodies backing Van Morrison. Alan Henderson, Them's bassist and the only constant during the band's career, deserves credit for not only
keeping the band active but for allowing Them to evolve and grow.
And Now And Them is a masterpiece of 1960's rock, arguably better than anything previously issued under the name Them. There are several different styles tackled on this album, including raga rock ('Square Room', perhaps Them's ultimate track), folk rock, hard rock, psychedelic rock...and Them are absolutely brilliant at all of them. There are no wasted opportunities on this album, and no filler. Even the non-original tracks are delivered with such inventiveness and enthusiasm that they successfully make these songs their own. "Now And Them" should have catapulted Them to the same level of success enjoyed by The Kinks, The Who and the Stones; sadly, a lack of real promotion and radio support prohibited this and Them would
never rise above cult status. Three more great albums would follow, but their singular lack of success led to the inevitable breakup ...

CONDITION: The cover is solid; VG++ well taken care of, no seam splits, no bends and no writing -- having only very minor overall shelf wear, a tiny bit at far left top seam -- nothing that will bother most collectors It's well over 40 years old, going on 45 years...a keeprer that should be permenant in the collection.
The vinyl; The TOWER labels are clean ...the grooves clean "EX" (excellent) plays totally enjoyable without distraction...
