 *** ATTENTION!***

Please carefully read our entire listing to answer any questions you may have,  including discount shipping rates at end of listing; then contact us directly with any other information you may need.

WITH MUCH APPRECIATION TO ALL OUR CUSTOMERS:  If you have a question on orders received, please contact us.  We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied.   When leaving Feedback, please consider the following:  eBay's policy on the 5-star rating system is anything less than a 5  reduces our standing with eBay and ultimately can affect our selling abilities.   SO please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music!  We have served thousands of satisfied customers  - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so.
We have a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records.   Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of  2/3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers.

We mail all paid orders out once a week on Fridays/Saturdays.  Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule to Monday.   We strive to keep our shipping and handling costs as close to actual charges as reasonable.  We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order.  Please be aware we have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.

TO OUR REPEAT CUSTOMERS:  We are happy to hold orders to save on shipping.  Please pay your current invoice within five days of auctions ending and, if you request, we will hold your order and reflect a shipping discount for each additional order shipped together in the same parcel.

As always, thank you for your support!

RARE 1973 PRIVATE PRESS LONER FOLK HIPSTER

              BILL DESTLER

              September Sky

...USA - PRIVATE PRESS (Swallowtail ST3)

RARE 1973 Original PRIVATE PRESS loner highway folk cat with something to say within weaving guitar patterns and melodic tunes that should, and does, appeal to collectors...

Recorded in a living room way out in the country as to not pick up any of the city noises... The album is mainly an acoustic affair, marked by Destler’s trademark croon. Layered guitars add a warm, vibrant feel to the music. The production is tight and straightforward, simplistic by modern standards. Two melodic standouts are “Septembersong” and “Go Jump In A River.” The former, catchy in tune and lyrics, starts the album with a tale of reunion...

“September Sky” harkens back to the 1970s, a time of social activism and burnt draft cards — a time when peace, love and rock-and-roll reigned supreme. Largely a relic of its time, it captures the then 26-year-old Destler ...Ron Rutowski, also plays guitar with Destler on most of the album.

Rutowski recalls “The circumstance on this album, it wasn’t done in a studio. It was done in the living room of somebody’s house. ” The house, out in the country, was isolated from the interfering noise of the city. “Producer Shapiro had set up microphones and a tape recorder, and we went over there,” says Rutowski.

After agreeing on some musical arrangements, we recorded the album over about two days. “Go Jump In The River,” a tongue-in-cheek hate song that the liner notes describe as his first kept song. Say the notes: “…because a few people liked it (all of whom instantly became my best friends) I started to write songs on a more or less regular basis.” Destler wrote all but 2 of the 12 songs on the album in a period of some social consciousness."and so there’s at least one song on there that had to do with a friend of mine who went to Canada rather than going into the military in the Vietnam War,” Destler says.

That song, a somber, slow-paced tune called “Pack The Flag Away,” is about the brother of one of Destler’s grad student roommates. “A fair amount of the album is just love songs of various kinds,” says Destler.

CONDITION: The cover: solid and stiff all over = still in pretty strong shape being so old, the old sepia tone color front a clean VG++ having just a little bit of shelf wear starting at top area. The back cover with extensive liner notes has what looks like light spia tone splotches that look like stains but are part of the design backdrop for the liner notes.

The vinyl: clean, near"EX" (excellent), has a few (nothing audible) minor inner sleeve type paper scuffs, that's it. Vastly clean and clear, no one interested would pass on it. The custom labels are clean ...they don't make labels like this anymore...

keeper!
