Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. By the way, this album is an excellent snapshot of Lou's post-Street Hassle live show. Lou and the band don't even pretend to try to pull off "perfect" versions of these songs - instead they attack them and by doing so showed 1978 audiences that you didn't have to play like the Sex Pistols or the Ramones to have an attitude. Lou Reed was never cooler than in the mid to late seventies. His ongoing chatter during and in between songs betrays that he's probably under the influence of something. Nevertheless, great song selection on here and great performances. Leave Me Alone is one of the main songs to benefit from the 'live' treatment. Great versions here of Berlin, Sweet Jane, and I Wanna Be Black, Reed's controversial song about stereotypes.
"I do Lou Reed better than anybody, so I thought I'd get in on it," Reed says at one point during this double live set, and that seems to sum up the album's theme quite well. Recorded during a week of shows at New York's Bottom Line in 1978, Live: Take No Prisoners presents Lou Reed joking between songs on Patti Smith ("F*ck Radio Ethiopia, man! I'm Radio Brooklyn!"), political activism ("Give me an issue, I'll give you a tissue, and you can wipe my ass with it"), and the agony of playing "Walk on the Wild Side" ("It's not that I don't want to play your favorites, but there are so many favorites to choose from!") while occasionally pausing to play a song. On the moments when Lou is focused enough to actually perform a song from start to finish (such as "Pale Blue Eyes" or "Coney Island Baby"), he's in fine form, sounding loose but enthusiastic, and this album plows through a mere ten songs in close to 100 minutes, which gives you an idea of just how long he performs here. If you're a fan who wants a look into the mind of Lou Reed, Live: Take No Prisoners certainly fills the bill!
