RARE 1ST PRESSING “RITCHIE VALENS” DF LP 1201 W/MIS-PRINT COVER ERROR, ORIG OWNR
Offering is original owner’s 1st pressing, self-titled, mono, 33 RPM LP “Ritchie Valens”, Del Fi 1201. This is the rare, sought-after LP whose rear album cover shows the song “That’s My Little Suzie” mis-titled as “I Got a Gal Named Sue”. Released in March 1959, this was Ritchie Valens’ sole LP record album. (Record Label: DEL-FI Records, Inc. - DFLP 1201). This is the original monaural (“mono”) vinyl record with “Delphonic Sound” shown on the front cover and both labels (right of the center hole). Specific descriptions:
· Album Cover / Sleeve – CONDITION: GOOD. The front cover has retained much of its original, rich colors; back cover shows age toning on back. The back cover has the owner’s marking in red. There is a 9” seam split along the bottom and a 4” seam split on the spine (see photos).
· Vinyl – CONDITION: VG. Its vinyl playing surfaces are clean and bright with minimal light hairlines and scuffs and no scratches. Vinyl has a nice gloss. Both labels are in very good condition with minimal spindle wear and no discolorations.
Purchased Spring 1959 at The House of Music, New Rochelle, NY (see photo no. 4). Always stored upright, kept in dry, non-smoking homes.
