DESCRIPTION OF ITEM:

Hard To Come By Original (Microgrove Mono) 1st.Pressing Release Of 

Kenny Dorham's (Quiet Kenny) LP 

Stamped with Rudy Van Gelder (RVG) & (EAR) in the deadwax (see 2nd. last pic.)

Featuring: Paul Chambers on Bass, Art Taylor on Drums, Tommy Flanagan on Piano and Kenny on Trumpet

Record label: New Jazz Cat.# NJLP 8225 Year~1959

Since this is such a hard album to come across I have taken extra time to grade this one. I have also listened to the album a few times on two different turntables (Sansui RS-838 and a lower grade Audio-Technica) both with and without headphones and the arm's weight set at 1. The album is pretty rough looking, so a bit of a tougher grading on the look of it than the sound quality...it still plays throughout with no skips, but a good amount of crackle noise and some snaps and pops here and there. I am going explain each song so that you can decide for yourself if you think this is a great find for your collection at a discounted price because of the wear. Besides the noise from the wear the music itself is very loud and crisp sounding

Side1 

Track #1(Lotus Blossom) the intro song has loud pops/snaps for a couple of rotations but then the rest of the song sounds great-good loud sound

Track #2 (My Ideal) crackle/snaps throughout, low recording so very noticeable..thins out 1/2 way through then returns at end 

Track #3 (Blue Friday) light crackle -loud horn -snaps loud

Track #4 (Alone Together) occasional light crackle - a couple  -snaps loud

Side 2 

Track #1 (Blue Spring Shuffle) very light crackle...snap in intro

Track #2 (I Had the Craziest Dream) light noise

Track #3 (Old Folks) bubble in vinyl from production some thudding (lasts for a few rotations) -some crackle noise (see last photo for surface wear and bubble) 

Keep in mind this album has very little playwear /groove wear and the surface marks are from not being taken care of very well many years ago. But when there is no noise, from the way it appears, it sounds like a VG++ conditioned album...you almost forget the condition it's in 

The Jacket/Cover has a laminated front and is in VG++ with a little corner and edge wear, some age/stain wear on the back of it (see up-close pics.) For its age the glossy cover is in very nice condition...still bright with color and text

This album original came with a plain white record sleeve that was pretty roughed up, so I discarded that one and have been using this (pictured) high quality MOFI plastic record sleeve

I am sure you already know if this album was in VG+ condition it fetches in the thousands, so if you don't mind some wear on your vinyl to able to get your hands on a rare album than this one for you :-)

I take my time and pack very safely with all the edges of the Box fully taped with "Fragile" and "Handle With Care" on it
