Description
Elvis Presley 3 LP set : " Elvis Memories " ABC Radio 1003 1978. It includes both inserts: The color booklet and the four page (one side) " Program Instructions ". This set is not even mentioned in some guides. It books for up to $575 if the inserts are included. Each record is contained in a plain white paper sleeve with a soft glassine inner surface. NOTE: This is not the more common Michelob set that was given to employees of that company. This set was sent out only to radio stations DJs. From the A. I. description: " The Elvis Memories 3 LP boxed set that does not feature Michelob branding is the original 1978 DJ Radio Promo set. While the more common version of the "Memories" radio special was sponsored by Michelob and featured their logo on the box, a limited number of "non-commercial" or "clean" versions were produced specifically for radio stations to broadcast without baked-in advertisements. Elvis Presley Elvis Memories 3 LP Box Set DJ Promo 1978 : This is the specific 3-record set. It was issued only to radio stations in 1978 for a nationwide broadcast in early 1979. Key Features: Includes 3 LPs and the original color program operation instructions. Content: Features a 3-hour program of music and rare interviews with Elvis. Rarity: Because it was a promo-only release, it is significantly harder to find than the commercial versions. The primary difference between these two 1978 releases lies in their content length and intended use. Both are part of a radio tribute project produced by the ABC Radio Network following Elvis Presley's death in 1977. Elvis: Memories (ASP 1003: This is the complete broadcast version of the tribute. Broad Scope: It contains three 12-inch vinyl discs designed for a three-hour airtime slot on ABC Radio affiliates. Included Material: The set features 44 of Elvis' most famous recordings interspersed with narrative segments about his life and career. Documentation: Because it was meant for radio DJs, it typically includes detailed programming instructions and a color booklet. Highlights of Elvis: Memories (Michelob): This version is a promotional condensation of the larger special, sponsored by Michelob beer. Purpose: It was created as a "first" for radio entertainment and Michelob to salute Elvis' contributions to music. Condensed Content: As a single LP, it only presents "highlights" from the full three-hour show. Visuals: The cover features a distinct circular pattern with Elvis' image and the "Michelob presents" branding in the upper left corner". All three records are nice for the most part and should play well (visually inspected only). One small scratch at the beginning of play on one side of one record. Some streaks on a couple. The color booklet is good. The Program Instructions is slightly rumpled and "Audition-9" is written on the top of the first page. Three tracks are underlined here also. Light spotting. A crease across the middle where it has been folded. Stapled on one corner. The box is reasonably good except for the corners which are split and taped here with clear tape. Also taped in the middle of one edge. Other wear and a split in the black paper on the opening edge. Light spotting (foxing) on the back. NOTE: Free Media Mail shipping (U.S. only).
