PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. SCARCE ...Original '60s first pressing by pre-BYRDS Chris Hillman & The Godsin Brothers who starred on Gene Clark's first solo Lp!
The HILLMEN album was recorded by Jim Dickson over the course of three months in 1963 and 1964. Dickson had been granted free use of World Pacific Studios in Los Angeles at night time, and this is where the band recorded "live" onto a three-track recorder using used magnetic tape
The Hillmen:
Chris Hillman (mandolin, vocals);
Vern Gosdin (guitar, vocals);
Don Parmley (banjo, vocals);
Rex Gosdin (bass, vocals).
The Hillmen, who started out as the Golden State Boys, were part of the emerging West Coast bluegrass scene during the early '60s, although this release seems to be their only recording together. Featuring Chris Hillman on mandolin, Vern Gosdin on guitar and lead vocals, along with bassist Rex Gosdin and banjo player Don Parmley providing harmony, the Hillmen cover a wide range of material in these studio sessions, covering traditional tunes, standards from bluegrass and folk, as well as original works. Most of the arrangements are brief and to the point, but there's plenty of phenomenal picking for bluegrass fans. The group's exciting miniature "Blue Grass Chopper" is their best instrumental showcase, while it's hard to beat the strong vocals in the traditional favorite "Barbara Allen." The group broke up around the time that Hillman left to join the fledgling rock group the Byrds in 1964. Issued on the long since defunct Together label

CONDITION: The cover: Solid all over, has a bit of shelf rub, rate: VG++ looks fine! Still has fresh original colors, no delete marks, no split seams, no bends, and no writing ... collection worthy rarity ...seldom seen
The vinyl: Clean and glossy over both sides, rated: VG++ to "EX" (excellent) most all excellent, ther is one short hairline mark on side one, that's it = so expect very enjoyable audio... both "TOGETHER" labels are clean
