RARE 78RPM Otto Virgial LITTLE GIRL IN ROME/BAD NOTION BLUES Bluebird 6213 (E+)

$

4,550

FORMAT: 78RPM Record

GENRE: PREWAR BLUES MISSISSIPPI DELTA BLUES

NOTES ABOUT THIS RECORDING: Recorded Chicago in October 1935.  Otto Virgial was from around Columbus, Mississippi in Lowndes County but also spent time playing in Sunflower County.  Big Joe Williams (also from Columbus) brought Virgial along to this session (everybody was living in Chicago by then), and Otto cut just four sides, which were issued on two Bluebird records.  So this record is half of his recorded output, and he easily holds his own alongside Patton and the other, more famous prewar Delta blues players.  For those of you who follow my auctions, you know I don't throw the word "rare" around, but this one is really that, the real deal - rare, great, sought after.  Go to town, y'all!

ARTIST: Otto Virgial

TITLES: LITTLE GIRL IN ROME/BAD NOTION BLUES

LABEL & NUMBER: Bluebird 6213

GRADE & DESCRIPTION (RECORD): E+ (doubt you'll find a cleaner copy of this record - and good luck finding another copy in any condition.  At any rate, this is an absolute gem of a player.)

(I grade conservatively using the VJM scale.  Slash grades ("V/V+") indicates different grades for each side, and side-by-side grades ("VV+") indicates a record that is right on the line between the two grades.  Please look carefully at the photos to assist in your own evaluation, but you can trust my grading.)
