'Four By The Beatles' is an EP released by the group in the mid 1960's at the height of the British Invasion. All the EPs by the Beatles are extremely hard to find. This copy is in fair to good condition only. There are many faults, but I still think it's worthy of many record collections, even if it's just to fill the space until a better copy can be found. The cover has been subjected to water or moisture, I think, because the paste-on photo is loose half way up the front. When I say front, I'm referring to the side where the disc slips out to your right. This picture on the front has some waviness, too, but the real problem is the looseness, and the fact that the paper folded under this picture is also loose. Both can be reglued without too much hassle, I think. I have not repaired this piece in any way, leaving that for the winner to do. Collectors always want it that way. There is very light soiling and some general wear to this side. The other side is still glued down, but it too has some light soiling. Both bottom corners fold in on this side, because both corners have been bumped. Facing this side the bottom right corner iis bumped in and has scuffing and a small tear. There is some wrinkling just above this. The left lower corner also bends in, and the paper on this side will lift up an inch or so from this lower left back corner. There is some kind of bump and a worn spot, a small one, over Paul's jacket pocket. The top left corner on back tends to bend forward very slightly. Going back to the front side, where we now have the disc able to slide out to the right again, there is a split to the top seam of about 3 1/2 inches, and the bottom seam has a split of an inch and three quarters. Along the slit in the cover where the disc comes out, you can see in the photo how wrinkled even the cardboard is. The wrinkling on the front goes up almost to the title area. There is a slight crease in the front upper left corner. I think that covers the cover. Now for the disc, which is pretty worn. There are no major scratches that make it obvious that the disc won't play, but there are plenty of minor scratches and wear. I will not try to fool you into thinking this is a decent disc. If it weren't a rare record, I wouldn't mess with this disc at all, and neither would you. I don't have a turn table hooked up right now, so I couldn't play it. Sixties records will often play better than they look because they were made with pure vinyl, and recycled vinyl came into use in the seventies, and then the sound quality went to hell after the disc got worn. This sixties disc may play okay, but I wouldn't expect audiophile listening quality. Scratched records are scratched records, and all the sales pitch in the world won't make them sound better. I think this one will have background noise, if not pops, hisses, etc. The labels on the disc are just fine, and there is still gloss. I'm trying to give you an honest, critical description of a very collectible record, and I don't mean to run the piece down. It's worth having, and one in similar condition just sold on eBay. I have a mess of other picture sleeves listed this week, most with a bit of water damage, and there are a couple other rare pieces and Beatles pix in the mix.
