Description

The Beatles sing LOVE ME DO b/w P.S. I Love You 1963 CAPITOL of CANADA 1st Pressing 45 (72076) [VG] VERY RARE Record at a Great Price! Condition is "used." Ships inexpensively by USPS Media Mail.
This auction is for an historic record: the first single available in North America by the Beatles, the Canadian edition of LOVE ME DO paired with P.S. I LOVE YOU. Capitol Records Canada pressed only 170 singles which were released on February 4, 1963 with catalogue number 72076. This pressing was dubbed from the original UK single and featured Ringo on drums [Wikipedia]. Perhaps not many fans know that there were three (3) recorded versions of this record: one with Pete Best (See "Anthology 1"), a second with Ringo playing drums, and a third with session drummer Andy White (relegating Ringo to playing the tambourine). THIS IS THE VERSION WITH RINGO ON DRUMS!
Overall, this 58 year-old disc is in Very Good condition and plays well. The vinyl shows evidence of playing including some marks, hairlines, and scuffing; the labels show wear but no tears or writing. (See photos.) The matrix (identification) numbers are hand-etched into the runout groove on each side [7XCE17144-2 and 7XCE17145-4, respectively].
